Abstract

We report a case of alternative treatment of a renal carcinoma by Chinese traditional medicine.

Case Report

A 65-year old Chinese man presented to the Accident and Emergency Department with a history of loin pain, haematuria and weight loss. Examination revealed a right loin mass and a circular area of blistering with fixed staining to the overlying skin. He had initially sought advice from a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. The hot cup suction treatment provided an accurate illustration of the site of his pain (Figure 1).

He subsequently underwent surgical treatment of his left renal carcinoma.
