Abstract
It’s a great pleasure foe me to publish this issue (Volume 3 Issue 2) of The Internet Journal of Head and Neck Surgery. This is the first issue since I have taken my current position in this journal. The internet Journal of Head and Neck Surgery has just completed its first three years. It started in the year 2007 and until now a total of 6 issues are on the web. This is an online, peer reviewed, open access journal. The aim is to publish high quality articles on head and neck surgery to expand the knowledge in this field. This is a common platform for experts from all the specialties working on this area for sharing their scientific views, technical knowledge and clinical experiences.
Until this issue submission of articles to this journal was free of cost and there was no publication fee. The current available funding is not enough to meet the cost of production. So, in the current context, to meet the high and escalating cost of production, from now on, there will be a submission fee (currently waived until further notice) and a publication fee. The fees are much less than the other similar publications. To ensure the quality special considerations will be given for the articles from the low income countries and the articles which are of exceptional high quality.
The change, I believe, will ensure the high quality of submission. The new arrangement will make things more organized. The new submission process will also reduce the delays.
I have done an analysis of the articles published in this journal so far. Most of the articles have been submitted by the otolaryngologists. I am not sure whether there is a misconception that this is an otolaryngology journal. We expect the continuing flow from the otolaryngologist colleagues. At the same time we are open to all the specialties dealing with the clinical problems relating to this area.
I would like to sincerely invite the academics and authors from the fields of oncosurgery, general surgery, endocrine surgery, maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, medical and radiation oncology, pathology and otolaryngology to get involved with this journal by submitting more quality articles for the future issues. I also appreciate your feedbacks.
I believe, with the active involvement of more and more experts in this area, the journal will continue to improve in its quality in future.
